I led was the recreation of the 1937 Citizens Housing and Planning Council’s The ABCs of City Planning (release day pending). This project was born from two desires: to update an outdated children's book on city planning and to create a non-extractive resource to share with communities. City agencies are often seen as only present when they want something. The ABCs of City Planning would be an evergreen resource we could share, independent of our ongoing initiatives.

I led the rewriting of the 26 poems and hosted reading/editing sessions, where we read the poems out loud and revised them so they were informative and appealed to a young audience. It was essential to make this a collaborative, communal effort—a gift from planners to the communities they serve. In that spirit, I hosted several two-hour workshops to allow people to stop by when they could to collage the visuals for the book. By choosing collage as the medium, staff with various artistic abilities could participate. During these sessions, I provided pre-cut shapes and brainstormed with staff about their creations.
